Cardboard Mosaic Art Project

The kids were very creative with this Mosaic project. I gave them left over pieces of Chipboard we had from previous projects, they painted them and glued them to painted large pieces of chipboard. Done! And what a wonderful abstract piece of art. If you don't have chipboard you can use any cardboard from packing or cereal boxes or even wood pieces would be great.  Enjoy!!

A Bit About My Summer

Welcome!

First I would like to say thank you for all the great people I have meet on twitter, the wonderful, inspiring comments left on my blog, regular followers and new visitors...................

I started this blog a few months ago and have really enjoyed sharing the kids art projects, my favorite Friday artists, fun art works and some of my personel happening photos with you. ...................

I have taken the summer off on having the art class with the kids which gives me time to regroup with new art ideas, reorganize my art studio and time to spend with my family. We have friends of our send there two girls every summer to hang with us for a few weeks. We all look forward to spending time with them. If the girls are not at the barn with the horses then there in my art studio, or on the Wii with my son. We enjoy taking them places and having fun....................

Some of our adventures planned will be roller skating ( a must ), drive in movies in KY, dinner, indoor rock climbing, antiquing, and the lock 4 park down by the Cumberland river where we fish and find lots of driftwood.....................

With the girls here it also gives me a bit of a break from the barn and a bit of time to spend on other things I need to catch up on. Very helpful!!
My regular Monday blog posts will vary with art projects and some adventures from our summer.

Some of you know we have a miniature horse farm which I love but we have decided to cut way back on the amount of horses we have so it will be a lot more manageable and give me more time to start a new adventure......................

I use to have a mid century shop in Florida. My art is a passion for me and so is vintage, so I am in the process now of getting a etsy shop up and running. I will tweet when it's up and going.

Have you ever heard of the worlds longest yard sale. I always thought it was like 5 - 6 hours from me but realized it's not. It goes from Gadsden, Alabama up RT 127 to Hudson, Michigan. It goes through Crossville Tennessee which is about 1 hour and 40 min from me. It runs from August 4th - 7th. So I asked my niece to go a couple days with me and she said yes. Now the big question, just bring the Durango or pull the trailer to  :-)

Here is there web site for any one who may want to go. http://www.127sale.com/
Oh! The treasures you can find................

Well I hope everyone is having a Great fun, relaxing summer and spending time with family, good friends, pets. Let us know what fun, interesting places or things you may be doing this summer.........

Tooling Metal Art Project

Hello fun, artsy people hope everyone had a great weekend. I decided to have the kids make a art project I haven't done since the 5th grade. Tooling with metal. I remember how fun it was to tool and then we mounted our project with tiny nails onto a wood backing. I had to read up on it a bit to refresh my memory.  I thought this would make a great fathers day present.

I ordered my metal for tooling at Whimsie studio. For this project I used the 36 gauge roll of aluminum. They have the metal in many colors and thicknesses so you could use what ever you like. You will need a thick pile of newspaper. Something pointy to tool with I use the wooden skewers you get at the grocery store for kabobs and just snip the ends to make them less pointy. We also colored our tooling art with sharpies when finished. We mounted them in a frame I got at the dollar store and done. Great fathers day present and one he can always cherish... ENJOY!

DAD WILL LOVE IT!  ENJOY!!
